Q: How do I buy a gift card?
Q: Where can I use a Scene Art Bar gift card?
A: Gift cards can be used online to purchase registration to a general public art session. Please note that gift cards cannot be used for Gifted Custom Art products or events.
Q: When will the electronic gift card be delivered?
A: The e-gift card will be delivered, via email to the purchaser, immediately.
Q: When do the gift cards expire?
A: Scene Art Bar gift cards do not expire.
Q: Can gift cards be redeemed for cash?
A: Gift cards cannot be redeemed for cash.
Q: How do I sign up for a class?
A: Registering is as easy as 1, 2, 3… First, visit the calendar page, browse to find a canvas painting, glass painting or reclaimed wood painting class that you like, at a date and time that work for you, select it and register for yourself, as well as your friends. Follow the on-screen instructions to finalize your order. If you have any questions or trouble registering, please contact us.
Q: When you do put up your events calendar?
A: We try to post our event calendar by the 15th of the month preceding. Meaning we would post our July calendar by June 15th. We aim to give people time to book private parties and company events, but also enough time for you to find a session that you like, book it and coordinate with your friends.
Q: When are classes held?
A: Public classes are held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. View our calendar to learn more. Private parties are available to book most evenings and weekend days, with advanced notice.
Q: How long are the public painting classes?
A: Public painting classes are between two and two and a half hours (2 to 2 1/2 hours), with an “intermission” at the halfway point.
Q: What time do I arrive for class?
A: Doors open 30 minutes prior to the start of the class. We recommend you arrive at least 10 minutes ahead of time, as we start our classes promptly as scheduled and you’ll need time to get situated and get your bar items ordered!
Q: Is my easel reserved for me?
A: Yes, we will have your easel set-up for you before you arrive. If you have friends who are attending the class and you’d like to sit together, please let us know when you book online, or send us an email with at least a 24 hour notice.
Q: What if I need to cancel?
A: Cancellation policy:
- If we are notified 48+ hours in advance, you will receive a full refund.
- If we are notified 24 hours in advance but less than 48 hours you will receive store credit to use toward a reschedule.
- If we are notified less than 24 hours in advance we are unable to provide a refund but will provide 50% credit towards a future class.
- Right to Cancel – Public Painting & Art Sessions – Scene Art Bar reserves the right to cancel a class any time there are not at least five (5) people reserved for the scheduled class. We will be more than happy to refund your money or give you a store credit for another class. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Q: What is your bad weather policy?
A: As a New Englander, we know that our weather can be severe. When weather does present an issue, our first concern is for the safety of our teaching artists and guests, and we’ll make a decision as to whether or not to open. We’ll post our updates on our Facebook page and on out phone message. The phone number for the studio is (860)856-5880.
If severe weather presents and issue for a private painting party that you have scheduled, we will happily reschedule your event to a later date.
Q: What do I need to bring to class?
A: Only your best effort and a positive attitude! We provide all of the paint and supplies you’ll need to make your masterpiece. Beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages, along with a selection of cheese and crackers and chips and salsa, will be available for purchase – no BYOB please! Scene Art Bar provides complimentary coffee and tea. If you prefer, due to dietary restrictions, to provide your own food selection, you are welcome to do so.
Q: Do I have to make a reservation for class? Or can I walk-in?
A: We recommend you do register for a session in advance, to ensure that you have an easel reserved for you. If you are a walk in during a sold out class, we won’t have a seat for you and we’ll feel just awful.
Q: I can’t even draw a straight line – do I need to be an artist to participate?
A: Absolutely not! Our teaching artist will guide you, step-by-step, through the painting and will make sure that you stay on track and complete your masterpiece by the end of class. Our goal is for you to have fun, relax and enjoy the evening – and our teaching artists love to help you make the painting uniquely yours!
Q: Are there age restrictions?
A: For the public classes, we require:
- 13 to 17 years old accompanied by an adult
- 18 years old and up to participate
- 21 years old to drink – please bring positive ID.
We do offer Kidz Art Scene private parties for children ages 7 and up.
Q: What should I wear?
A: We recommend wearing anything that makes you feel great! And while we provide the aprons, there are times when the paint finds its way to you… we use acrylic paint which tends not to come out of clothes, so please plan accordingly.
